Each of the five senses provides a tremendous amount of information to the brain for processing. The brain takes in this data, combines it with individual past experience, and emulsifies it into a personal experience. Therefore, by means of exposure, we have experience. Experiences, positive, negative, or neutral, can be described in a number of ways based on personal preference. We, as humans, do our best to avoid negative experiences. If a person has a negative experience to an environment, change is required. The options are either to limit or eliminate exposure to that environment, or to change the environment itself.

Personal environment is something over which an individual can affect change. Personal environment has a dramatic impact on personal psychology and attitude; by experience, it affects emotions. There are a number of things about a specific environment that may make a person uncomfortable; clutter, color, furniture placement, the condition and/or style of the furnishings, lighting, etc. There are a variety of theories and formulas used to develop and define the design of an environment. Whatever method used, the end result of the changes made should be a visible transformation of the space and a noticeable positive impact on the occupant.

Changing an environment may be the best means of immediate gratification with a lasting positive effect on the human psyche. Why do people get so excited about receiving a room or whole home makeover? A personal environment is a direct reflection of self, and as such, has a profound impact on self-esteem, personal satisfaction, and genuine stress-free comfort. Perhaps a room doesn’t function the way it should but the occupant doesn’t know why and doesn’t know how to impact effective change. Simply being in that are will cause frustration and undue stress. A person may be stuck in a rut and can’t see what to change or doesn’t know where to begin. Or, an individual may have grown and changed as a person. Whether or not he realizes it, this new person has a new identity and needs a new means of expression, style, and existence. At times, change may difficult to afford, especially if an individual can’t envision a simple change and the dramatic impact it can have on the space.

Sometimes any change is a positive change. Inexpensive solutions, though perhaps not the most desirable, can still be found and implemented. Develop a budget and decide to begin the process of transformation of self through space. Generally, everyone who has a home to go to, goes home. And every person should feel at home while there.

Make a lasting positive lifestyle change - feel better and reduce stress.
Here is a solution, a lifestyle change that you can stick to, a change that you can make and keep.

Scenario:
How many people make that New Year’s resolution to go to the gym, get in shape, and lose weight only to join the gym, get locked into a contract, and quit going shortly after they get started? It’s hard to make lifestyle changes when it comes to behavioral patterns; it takes consistent effort over a long period of time. Behavioral change takes practice; it can be frustrating and results are sometimes longer in coming than desired.
These momentarily inspired people find any number of reasons or excuses not to go to the gym, but each one of them goes somewhere, usually home. Everyday, people come home from work, usually exhausted, frustrated, drained, or stressed-out. They want to sit down and relax so that they can re-energize and spend time with their families or focus on hobbies. It can be difficult to re-energize if the environment does not inspire comfort, security, and personal satisfaction. It may be cluttered or disorganized, drab or poorly lit, cold, hot, noisy, or just pain ugly. Invest in the home environment. Pick a room, make changes. Rather than spending $3000 on a gym membership, spend it on your favorite room in the house instead. This is a change a person can stick to because once it’s done, it’s done. Enjoy it. When happy at home, people are more inspired to make other positive lifestyle changes, like joining the gym.
